Focus on Fjord Research, Biodiversity and Marine Spatial Planning

Last week UArctic Thematic Networks met in Akureyri for their annual meeting. One of the thematic networks, the TN on Arctic Coastal and Marine Issues, is jointly led by the University of Akureyri and the University Centre of the Westfjords. During the meeting, Hreiðar Þór Valtýsson (UAkureyri), Peter Weiss (UWestfjords) and Øyvind Paasche (Bergen Marine Research Cluster) sounded out future research interests to enable coastal communities' future ability to make a livelihood from the resources of the coast and the sea with creation of value and sustainable use in mind.


The thematic network's focus should be on fjord research, biodiversity and marine spatial planning.
