Much has been written about growing new year's eve tourism in Iceland these days. At the same time, in Ísafjörður, there is starting the first international language course in Icelandic Language in January.

The University Centre of the Westfjords has several years of experience in offering summer courses in Icelandic Language and Culture, but it has never offered such a course in mid winter.

Eight participants from Europe and the United States are now dwelling in Ísafjörður for an intensive course in Icelandic and as a bonus they get the real Iceland feeling in a remote fishing village, winter darkness and wonderful snow.

Our community

"The students here are happy, very open and welcoming. They are an international and eclectic student body - with lots of variety. They invited me to join them for meals and trips. I appreciated their openness as colleagues."
John Nyboer CMM Instructor, Research Associate Simon Fraser University Vancouver, Canada
