In the Lunch Lecture Friday October 1, Megan Veley will talk about the 350.org global campaign called 10.10.10 Global Work Party. Megan and other students in the Coastal and Marine Management Masters program have joined the international environmental movement by putting on a Work Party here in Ísafjörður, further information here.

 

Three years ago Megan worked with the same campaign during her undergrad. At that time the movement was only on national level in the US. Since then the campaign has spread globally and hosted the world's largest environmental movement last fall. The student group here in Ísafjörður is helping 350.org to exceed last year's movement by putting Iceland on the map for the first time.

 

In her talk Megan will discuss what will be on the program of the 10.10.10 Global Work Party in Ísafjörður, explain the objects of the campaign in general and would very much like to get ideas and suggestions from those who attend since the event is still being organized.

 

Megan Veley graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Natural Resources Management and Policy from the Paul Smith's College in 2009. She is currently working on her master's thesis in Coastal and Marine Management at the University Centre of the Westfjords.
