Bjarni Már Magnússon is a Ph.D candidate in International Law of the Sea at the University of Edinburgh. His project is about the role of dispute settlement in the establishment of the outer limits of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles. Bjarni is involved in two maritime delimitations in the Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh v. Myanmar and Bangladesh v. India. The former case will be adjudicated before the International Tribunal of the Law of the Sea and the latter before an arbitral tribunal. Recently he contributed to research that was done for the European Commission's Directorate General of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries on the Legal Aspects of Arctic Shipping.
