Getting to Núpur

Getting from Reykjavík to Núpur

1. Chartered bus from Reykjavík BSÍ bus terminal to Núpur: Registration is obligatory. Erasmus/Nordplus students register on their application form. Other participants register on the University Centre's application form. Please note that we can only guarantee registered spaces. The price is ISK 9.000 one way, and must be paid at registration at Hótel Núpur (Erasmus/Nordplus students). The bus will depart from the bus terminal in Reykjavik (BSÍ) at 9:00 (sharp) on Monday, 2 August, 2010. Loading the bus will begin at 8:30. Registrations after 30.06.2010 will depend on availability. A member of our staff will welcome you at BSÍ, accompany you on the trip, and point out the highlights on the 460-kilometer drive to Núpur. This should be an unforgettable day, driving a route that few tourists in Iceland see.

2. Public bus: You can find the summer timetable on the website www.bsi.is. Please note that Monday, 2 August, 2010, is a holiday and that there might be changes to the regular bus schedule throughout the entire weekend. Please confirm timings before making plans. Please notify us of your means of travel on the application form.

3. Air travel: There are normally two scheduled flights daily from Reykjavík to Ísafjörður. They can be booked online at www.airiceland.is. Flights leave from Reykjavík domestic airport, not from Keflavík airport. You will save considerably by booking in advance. Our community

"Iceland is a place where the four elements seem to be engaged in a constant battle for dominance over the lives of its inhabitants. This provides an exciting, if sometimes demanding, backdrop to the CMM programme. It's hard to imagine an environment better suited to preparing students for the challenges of a career in natural resource management."

Alan Deverell, Great Britain CMM student 2009-2010
