2010 European Year For Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion

The year 2010 was designated as the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion by the European Commission. The aim is to raise public awareness about these issues and to give voice to the concerns of people living in poverty and social exclusion.

On this occasion the Icelandic Ministry of Social Affairs and Social Security launched a fund to support projects in this field. These co-funded projects aim at e.g. finding innovative solutions, starting education and training programmes for low-income individuals and families, unemployed and people with an impaired working capacity, or they aim at fighting prejudice.

The projects will all be terminated by December 31, 2010 and grantees are obliged to hand in abstracts on their projects, which will be accessible on this website, in Icelandic and in English.
