The University Centre of the Westfjords makes its facilities available to all university-level students who are studying or carrying out research in the Westfjords. Seven universities in Iceland offer distance learning courses: the University of Iceland, the University of Akureyri, Reykjavík University, Hólar University College, the Iceland University of Education, the Agricultural University of Iceland, and Bifröst University. Distance learning instruction takes place variously through the Internet or with the help of remote conference technology.
